My dog sometimes does not come back when called. Is this a problem?

Attemping to walk a dog which only comes back 'sometimes' is dangerous for both myself and the dog. I simply will not risk walking a dog who only comes back 'sometimes' or who won't come back at-all.

Will my dog get dirty during his/her walks?

The simple answer is, most likely, yes. Many dogs love rolling about and having plenty of fun! Also, many dogs love swimming, and this is also a fantastic exercise - improving muscle mass and burning lots of calories, keeping dogs nice and trim. Furthermore, we cannot predict the weather, and therefore, when it's raining or snowing, the ground can become very soggy and muddy. This means that dogs can potentially return wet or muddy. I do my very best to towel down all dogs and clean their paws before returning home, but it is advise that you provide a particular place for your pet to go when they return home - a crate/kennel, kitchen etc, if you are conscientious of your carpets/flooring. Personally our dogs are kept in the kitchen with some nice cosy bedding until they dry off. This means that any muddy paw-prints can easily be mopped away without much fuss.

What happens on the Weekend Hiking Service?

Your dog will be collected at around 9am. He will accompany myself and my own two dogs into the hills. We mainly climb the range of Ochil's. I bring plenty of fresh water, a dog bowl, snacks/treats, and a first aid kit for the dogs (just in-case!). Normally, by the time we have driven and parking up, it is around 10am. Most of the named Ochil hills take around 6-7 hours to complete, therefore your dog will not only get a beneficial amount of exercise but will also have a fantastic time. Dogs will have the opportunity to explore off lead too. I thoroughly enjoy taking pictures and can take pictures during our trip, to show you what a brilliant time your dog had on the trip. Dogs will be returned home after the hike, which will be approximately 5pm. We regularly take our own dogs hiking, and feel this is extremely beneficial to dogs of all breeds. It not only increases your dogs level of fitness and stamina, but allows your dog to explore new sights and smells. After a day of hiking, dogs return home happy, calm and very settled! (Please note that weekend hiking is not available every weekend, and is only available on certain weekends. Please e-mail for any details or next available dates)

My dog has not been neutered - Is this a problem?

Uncastrated males cannot be walked with Doggy Wox. Dogs who are un-neutered can often be very demanding as they have other things on their mind. I cannot risk a dog running off if he smells a female - this is extremely dangerous. Most vets recommend neutering dogs around the age of 7 - 14 months old.

Do you walk dogs around Christmas and New year?

Only by special arrangement. Like most people, we like to enjoy our festival holidays too, and therefore we do ask that you contact us to discuss any requirements between the dates of 19th Dec - 10th Jan.

Do you still walk dogs in the winter time?

Yes. However, I cannot predict the weather - and severe weather such as snow or ice bring with it the possibility that it is unsafe to drive. In such severe conditions I would not be able to walk dogs. I could never risk transporting dogs around during icy conditions. I feel this would be extremely dangerous and irresponsible as ultimately its risking not only the dogs, but my own safety. I will always do my best - but during periods of ice and snow, I feel it's far safer for the dogs to stay at home instead of travelling in vehicles on icy, slippery roads.

Do you offer home boarding in your own home?

Sorry but no, we don't. We have two dogs of our own, which take up a lot of my own time particularly during the weekend, as I compete with both my dogs, so I'm often at shows or competitions. Furthermore, Monday- Friday, most of my time is spent walking dogs, pet caring for other animals, etc, and so I'm in and out of the house from around 10am - 6pm, which means I'd have no time to look after a dog in my own home in addition to my own. I am happy to offer 'house-sitting services' in your own home, and additionally I always feel this is the best option anyway, and most dogs feel far more comfortable in their own surroundings.
